Review of Our Harvest
Aloha Kona Coffee Lovers,
It has been roughly a month or so since our last update on whats happening on the farm. Our coffee harvest came in fast and furious this year, giving me a much different coffee season experience as opposed to last years. Each coffee season differs from the next in terms on when and how the coffee flowers. Coffee ripens in rounds that can be determined by a variety of factors. This year we had a particularly fast second round of flowering. As the early pickings of July and mid-August came to an end, September provided us with an absolute onslaught on coffee cherry, requiring us to process our coffee 24/7, day and night so that we could reap the benefits of our beautiful looking coffee. Since each and every bean is handpicked at its optimum ripeness, just getting the beans off our trees is quite an undertaking for the pickers. With each of our farms ripening at different times from one another, it takes non-stop care and picking in order for us to maximize our quality and harvest volume.
After roughly two months of picking, processing and peeling our coffee, our season is starting to show signs of slowing down giving us a much needed break and time to update our highly appreciated customers. We will continue to process coffee for another month, but in smaller amounts as the harvest nears its end. And while this season seems to be waining, we truly have produced some amazing coffee this year and we cannot wait to roast it and share with you!
Mahalo for your support,
Andrew Langenstein
Also, we recently had a review written about our coffee from a journalist based our of Central Oregon by the name of David Clewett. David recently ordered a few pounds of our 100% Kona and was kind enough to include his take on our families long tradition of producing the best 100% Kona coffee we can. You can find more of David’s work online on Amazon. Enjoy!
Langenstein Farm’s Coffee Review
Coffee and freelance journalism go hand-in-hand. With long hours and short deadlines sometimes you need to dig deep and find the motivation to produce a great story even when there is still daylight to be enjoyed. I’ve long relied on coffee to keep me sharp, focused and productive. Never before had I tasted true coffee until trying a steaming cup of Medium Roast Kona Coffee from Langenstein Farms. From the first sip I knew that there was no going back. Quite frankly, I was hooked from the moment I opened my first bag and scooped out some fresh beans to grind. The aroma escaping from the carefully packaged bag was flavorful in its own right and consumed my appetite. By the time I had finished grinding the beans and the first cup was brewing my entire house had the aroma of Kona freshness. I found the coffee had a rich fullness in flavor while maintaining a smooth drinkability. There is premeditated love in this coffee that comes through not only in the beans but in the careful picking, roasting, and packaging. With each sip I found the terroir of South Kona in the flavorful and enjoyable coffee from Langenstein Farms. There’s no turning back now.
A lot of hard work goes into producing a single bag of 100% Kona Estate Coffee. I can’t even begin to express my gratitude for the careful selection of each bean off the vine, and the masterful sun drying and roasting process that resulted in this cup of Medium Roast Coffee from Langenstein Farms. With each sip more enjoyable than the last, the flavor and smooth drinkability of your coffee is keeps me loyal to the coffee club. Keep up the great work so that eventually everyone will know what a great coffee experience is supposed to be like.
It is the terroir of Langenstein Farms Kona Coffee that makes it stand above all others. You get a taste of the place with beans so fresh it is as if you are on the farm watching as the sun rises. With each sip you can taste the care and passion behind the brand and it takes you barefooted with a broad view of the breaking waves along the shoreline. I can think of no better way to start each day than with a cup of Langenstein Farms Medium Roast.
I found that I was drinking 3-5 cups of lesser quality coffee as part of my morning ritual to prepare for each day. With Langenstein Farms’ Medium Roast I only need 1-2 cups to feel energized, focused, and ready to seize the day. I find my coffee experience more enjoyable than my previous routine of force-feeding myself caffeine. When I brew a cup of Langenstein Farms’ it is more of a leisurely affair where the slow calmness of the Big Island overtakes me with each sip. It is the perfect way to start each day.
John and Andrew’s passion for quality 100% Kona Coffee is evident not only in the quality of their coffee or the way they pick, dry and roast the beans. Their passion can be found in the little details like the packaging valve that keeps the coffee fresh until you are ready to brew. Their passion can be found in every meticulous nature of their craft and their reward, clearly, is my enjoyment of their quality coffee each and every morning.
